The Long Way Home

I’m thrilled to see that The Enquirer is doing a three-part series on Joe Neyer. Please, take the time to read it. I know it’s going to be great.

Joe Neyer loved lilies. They would grow and flourish and shine. Then, too soon, they would die and fall back into his pond. Only a memory.

Joe’s life was short as well. He had the most aggressive form of brain cancer. The Enquirer followed Joe, a 46-year-old husband and father from Oxford, over the last two years of his life. From his decision to go off treatment, to his deathbed, he believed his final months were much more about living than about dying.

Look for a three-part serial in print Sunday through Tuesday by reporter John Faherty and photographer Carrie Cochran. Sunday, the entire piece can be seen online, with a special short film by Cochran.

You can read what I’ve written about Joe here, here, here, and here.
